Building skincare credibility before a single product shipped
Piyush Jain · Founder, Skin Inspired
Skin Inspired built category credibility before launching its products by leading with dermatologist-backed education rather than promotion. Interviews with practising dermatologists gave the claims clinical weight and grew a community around skincare awareness, reaching 7.5M+ impressions and 381.8K views. The content supplied marketing material for the D2C launch and formed part of the outreach behind a $1.2M funding round.
Create brand awareness around skincare before launching a product range through ecommerce.
The challenge
Launching a skincare brand into a category saturated with paid acquisition and influencer marketing, where customer trust is the binding constraint. The brand needed credibility in place before it had a product to sell.
What we did
- Built the content strategy around interviews with practising dermatologists, so every claim carried clinical authority rather than brand assertion: the fastest way to earn trust in a category full of confident misinformation.
- Set out to grow a community of people learning about skincare, not an audience waiting for a product. That audience existed before there was anything to sell, and it was the reason the launch had demand on day one.
- Led with education rather than product promotion, so the channel was worth following on its own terms.
- Handled content creation end to end, including art direction, post-processing and publishing.
- Produced material that doubled as marketing assets for the D2C product launch.
The results
The campaign reached 7.5M+ impressions, 381.8K views, 2.6K watch hours and 2.6K subscribers, with a community built around skincare education rather than product promotion. It supplied the marketing material for a D2C product launch and became part of the outreach that contributed to $1.2M in funding.
- Built authority through interviews with practising dermatologists rather than brand claims.
- Grew a community of people learning about skincare, giving the launch an audience that already existed.
- Supported the launch of a product series across D2C platforms with ready marketing material.
- Formed part of the outreach strategy behind a $1.2M funding round.
The work
“Metapher's YouTube strategy is the reason investors took us seriously. We closed $1.2M+ with a media presence as our strongest signal.”
